These are examples of the types of activities that can happen in groups. They can be adapted to any content and other types of groups. Refer to the table above for the group structures.

This is one way to set up group tasks. It is helpful to give the students something in writing. This format assumes knowledge of group structure and the types of tasks. It is not for beginners.   Return to Materials Workshop.

 Project Work

Lifeskill: Occupations
Purpose: As you develop your own materials, you will see how the word lists, sentences, and worksheets build on each other, and help you integrate lots of practice into your classroom.

 Task #1:

Groups:

Time:

Procedure:

 

Write sentences based on particular occupations.

3-4 w/ roles (leader, timekeeper, scribe)

15 minutes

1. Make lists of vocabulary words (round-robin)
2. People, actions, tools, places and objects
3. Write sentences for sentence strips and bags.
4. Recopy the sentences for the website.
Transition:  Stand up and find 3-4 people from different groups.

 Choose an activity and design a worksheet.

Expert groups of 3-4

15 minutes

1. Share your work from the previous group.
2. Choose an activity from the "Practice" list.
3. Design a worksheet.
4. Submit a draft copy for the website or email it.
